Potential for prokinetics use in gastroenterological practice
The present article is concerned with pathogenetic mechanisms of gastrointestinal tract (GIT) motor function disturbances. Both primary and secondary motor disturbances accompanied by the emergence or intensification of dyspeptic symptoms. Domperidone is widely used in complex therapy of many digestive diseases, accompanied by motor-evacuation disorders of the upper digestive tract. It is emphasized that the domperidone use in patient with gastroesophageal reflux disease, functional dyspepsia, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer and other diseases involving stomach and duodenum motor disorders, thus enable reduce diseases exacerbation time/period and significantly improves the patients quality of life due to the rapid and effective dyspeptic symptoms relief. Domperidone is also used successfully for the prevention and symptomatic treatment of nausea and vomiting of various origins. We give current clinical practice guideline for domperidone use.
