Scientific and clinical interest in the evaluation of the intestinal microbiota is due to the fact that there are very close links between the disturbance of the intestinal microbiocenosis and the pathology of not only the gastrointestinal tract, but also other organs. For more than half a century, probiotics have been the primary means of correcting intestinal dysbiosis. Research results, however, often indicate that probiotic microorganisms, being alien, can interact according to the principle of «host against probiotic». The article presents a modern understanding of colon dysbiosis, methods for the correction of microecological disorders, including the use of pro-, pre- and metabiotics.
