Vaspin is a hormone of adipose tissue of a glycoprotein nature, belonging to the group of serine protease inhibitors. To date, a lot of articles have been published that describe the structure of vaspin, its proven and proposed functions, the mechanisms of its action on target cells, and also the change in its concentration in certain pathological conditions. However, there is currently no structured work that would summarize and systematize all available information about this adipokine. It is this task that we set ourselves in this study. The article contains the results of all currently available studies on vaspin. In some cases, the sources cited report conflicting results, indicating the need for further research.
