The results of evaluation the impact of therapy with verapamil and sotalol on the parameters of heart rate variability (HRV) in patients with arterial hypertension (AH) I-II degrees, complicated by atrial fibrillation paroxysms (AFP) are presented. The study included 30 patients received sotalol and 34 patients received verapamil. It was shown that heart failure in hypertensive patients with AFP is associated with a simultaneous decrease of average weighted variation of rhythmogram (AVVR) and conventional HRV parametres, characterizing parasympathetic activity, as well as with more frequent recurrences of atrial fibrillation, which may reflect the presence of severe electrical instability in the atrial myocardium in such patients. Reducing blood pressure (BP) to normal level on the background of verapamil use (systolic BP
