Gottron’s carcinoid papillomatosis of the skin is a rare benign skin disease. The etiology and pathogenesis of the disease have not been fully established. It is known that manifestations are often preceded by long-term chronic recurrent dermatoses, circulatory disorders and acroasphyxia of the lower extremities. The available literature describes rare cases of the disease, so the verification of the diagnosis causes certain difficulties. A number of authors regard Gottron’s papillomatosis as a precancerous disease with the possibility of further transformation into highly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma.
The article presents a clinical case of a rare dermatological pathology in a 63-year-old patient. Carcinoid papillomatosis of the skin was formed against the background of a long-term eczematous process in combination with lymphostasis of the lower extremities. Based on the medical history, clinical picture and histological data, a rare clinical diagnosis was verified: Gottron’s carcinoid papillomatosis. The presented case is interesting as an example of rare skin pathology and as an illustration of the possible carcinoid transformation of chronic dermatoses.
