Management of a coughing patient

The article deals with the problem of management of a coughing patient. A large number of causes (various conditions and forms) of cough are known, therefore, special attention is paid to the need for a detailed study of the cough characteristics, which enables deli-berate approach to the therapy. The algorithm for management of a coughing patient helps to decide on pharmacological – etiotropic, symptomatic – therapy or non-pharmacological treatment. Information is provided on the effective treatment of cough using a fixed combination of medications – bromhexine+guaifenesin+salbutamol (Ascoril expectorant).
