Influence of antihypertensive drug combinations with hydrochlorothiazides on the level of urinary acid in patients with asymptomatic hyperuricemia
The paper presents the results of impact assessment of combinations of major antihypertensive drug group representatives with hydrochlorothiazide (GHT) used for the hypertension management in 180 patients with asymptomatic hyperuricaemia (GU), on the uric acid (UA) level. It was found that antihypertensive therapy with ACE inhibitors, calcium antagonists and ?-blockers in combination with the GHT in doses of 12.5 and 25.0 mg can be accompanied by transient UA increase for 2-6% as compared with baseline within 1-3 months of treatment. This moderate UA level increase does not require the cancellation or correction GHT dose. Women had more significant increase UA level. It is emphasized that the UA level after 3 months of antihypertensive therapy was defined mainly by patient’s adherence to recommendations to limit alcohol and purine-rich foods consumption rather than the antihypertensive therapy patterns.
