Vertebrogenic pain: place of non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs in pathogenetic therapy
The problem of treatment of neurological manifestations of lumbar osteochondrosis is very important in the current health care, because this pathology affects the most working-age population in young and middle age, often leads to persistent disability. Long-standing and severe pain syndrome, including associated with lumbar osteochondrosis, in some cases lead to irreversible changes of brain substance, manifesting in various psychoemotional and cognitive impairments, largely affecting the patient’s quality of life. At the present time, particular significance is attached to the use of cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors. One of the most studied drugs in this group is meloxicam (Movalis); its efficiency and safety allows using it in different variants of pain syndrome in the form of protracted treatment.
