The growing number of overweight people around the world maintains an interest in the diagnosis and treatment of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In 2012, Guidelines of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) for the diagnosis and management of patients with NAFLD (ACG/AGA Guidelines) were published; they can substantially facilitate the work of medical practitioners. This article is devoted to a brief overview of these recommendations.
